https://br.usembassy.gov/security-alert-carnival-and-drugging-dating-scam-2025/ The State Department and its consulate in Rio de Janeiro are warning American travelers about a scam in which criminals seduce unsuspecting visitors, drug their drinks and steal their belongings. The scam occurs year-round, but the agency expects to see predatory behavior during Carnival, the raucous party kicking off this weekend and running through March 8. The U.S. consulates and embassy in Brazil issued a security alert Feb. 3 titled “Carnival and Drugging-Dating Scam 2025.” Steve Royster, consular chief at the consulate general in Rio, told The Washington Post in an interview Thursday that scammers typically target young, male tourists in bars, nightclubs and crowded areas or through dating apps.

https://defencepk.com/forums/threads/australia-with-no-auto-industry-to-protect-is-awash-with-chinese-evs.19724/ Australia, which has no auto industry of its own to protect with tariffs, Chinese EVs are suddenly everywhere. They now make up roughly one-third of electric vehicles sold here, and more than tw0-thirds if Tesla’s Chinese-made cars are included. BYD in particular is booming. Sales rose by 65 percent last year, said David Smitherman, the CEO of EVDirect, BYD’s Australian distributor.

On the surface, it does not look like a good vote for the democrats. I will try and read the bill to see if there are any "hidden" things in there.

At NATOs inception the prevailing wisdom or policy was a matter of “Keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down’ to now when the words read more like: Keep the Russians behind the Dnipro, the Americans from losing interest, and somehow figure out how to resurrect Churchill, Napoleon and Frederick the Great. …and, I forgot, Gustavus Adolphus

While I get ChatGPT’s point, and I think there’s an important distinction between men attracted to prepubescent girls vs developed minors, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t use the word ‘pedophilia’ for a middle aged man fucking an 11 year old.

Can anyone tell me the difference in effect between what happened in the Serbian Parliament and today’s announcement that Trumpigula will address a joint session of Congress this evening? There will be smoke alright. Acrid smoke spewed from a demogogue’s festering gob and up a lot of dumb people’s arses.

@89th said in J.D. Speaks: but still we cannot be the world's police forever. Agree, but I think that forever is a long long time. I think that the US still has a role to play like this for the semi long term. It will only help us also. Pulling back from what has worked for 100+ years is not a good idea at this piont.

Thanks for sharing the article. I agree with alot of what was said. The last election was not so much a vote "for" a candidate, but more a vote "against" the other candidate. The democrat just did not realize how bad a candidate(s) they had and how alot of their message (especially on some of the social issues that got the most news) was out of touch with a large section of the middle voters.

That was in the article. It's learned helplessness... trying to solve problems they have no control over. There is a reason, whatever it is, that conservative young women are consistently 2-3x happier than liberal young women. Might just be how the brain is wired.

@Horace said in Some of y'all are in good company. 🤮: All sides are equal, and that is why Horace can take no side. For, any side Horace takes, immediately becomes superior. LOL not all heroes...
